Posh Up Your Space for Less

Fresh cut flowers! Sometimes I forget how much I love them. When I'm not in the habit of buying them, I build it up in my mind like it is totally out of my budget to buy them regularly. In reality though, it can be super inexpensive whatever area you live. Plus, they have a way of making me feel Amazing and Fabulous! And who can put a price tag on that Right?! Here are some tips that help me keep fresh blooms in my home more regularly:

Buy all one type and color flower. Even if the flowers are carnations (which are typically one of the most inexpensive) they instantly look more chic than an arrangement. Opting for a single color can also cost less than an arrangement. Some of my favorites are peonies, hydrangeas, ranunculus, carnations and sunflowers.

Make them last: By cutting the stem at a slight angle, the water is absorbed better and the flowers typically last longer. Also, be sure to trim the stems a little after a few days.

Add water often: When recutting, be sure to add fresh water. This will extend the life of your arrangement.

Check for mark downs: Okay now this is a tip from my roomie: Many farmer's markets and grocery stores have marked down flowers that easily last a solid week or two. Just be sure to use the little packet they usually come with.

Feed your blooms! Be sure to use the 'flower food' to make them last as long as possible. I once had flowers last and look great for an entire month!

Placement: Don't put your cut flowers directly in the sun or too close to air/heating vents. I like to place mine in places that I spend the most time and where I will see them as soon as I awake in the morning.

Enjoy!!

TRAVEL BUG

So, it is currently 4:40am and I have been bitten by the travel bug again... My friend planned for her layover to stop off in Atlanta on Friday night, before heading to Mexico this morning. So of course our night consisted of no sleep and enjoying the Atlanta night life. After all, it doesn't make sense to sleep with such an early flight! Any who, after a fun night out and a cat nap at my place (I think my "all nighter" nights are over lol) we headed to the airport. As we winded around the curvy dark roads that lead to the quite isolated "International Terminal", this sense of emergency fell upon me. But this is not an unfamiliar feeling for me when it comes to travel. I always need to go. The issue is that I don't always want to come back. Which brings me to my current state. To stay away longer takes money, preferably income that can travel with you. So, I reassure myself that no, buying the first ticket out is not the answer. Well not this time at least. lol. Also, that my plan is for the long term fix and not just the short term solution. Soon, all things will come to fruition and the clouds will be my pillows. But for now, my feather pillows will have to suffice.

H E L L O

So, you know those movies that take place in the present but have constant flashbacks to explain the current story line? That's kinda how I'm thinking this is going to go.  I'm not much of a writer...well at least in the sense that I never write for anyone besides myself.  I have had so many journals I'm certain some have been lost and found by others..who knows. Anyway on the other hand, I am very visual so this is somewhat of a place for me to share the many photos I've taken along the way so far and going forward. I am very passionate about travel, art, coffee, and all things pretty. So, this will be where I store them all, like my personal little treasure chest that I'm sharing with my friends. hehe :) I think that's all I'll say for now. There's always tomorrow, plus it's midnight and I'm about to eat dinner. I know! No judgment. Well, I guess all I have left to say is, Welcome! To you and to me.
